Newcomer Alix Page is just nineteen, but is releasing tracks as memorable and with as much power as this one. ‘25’ wanders from verses with a dreamlike, distant quality that soak up the ambiance of an interjecting trumpet, to punky and energetic hooks. Page’s words flow out in an endlessly melodic train of thought over a slowly building wall of distortion that makes its acoustic conclusion feel so much more rewarding. She describes the track as being “about reminiscing on a past relationship - going down the rabbit hole of wondering what could have been different and where you’ll both end up later in life.” Be on the lookout for another single in December and an EP in February 2022. -Dan Peeke
